A week in Tirana: your treatment and your holiday
A relaxed 7-day plan for Tirana and nearby towns, built around your treatment, starting from our clinic in the city centre.
Coming to DemiraqiDental for treatment? Whether you need surgery, conservative care such as fillings and root canals, or prosthetic work such as crowns, bridges and dentures, your time with us is usually up to two hours a day. The rest of the day is yours. Here is a relaxed 7-day plan for Tirana and nearby towns, starting from our clinic in the city centre.
This is an idea for a week, not a rule. After a bigger operation some days are for resting, and a long trip up the mountain or to the coast may not be wise. Ask us before you book anything — we will fit the plan to your treatment.

Start here: DemiraqiDental
We are a dental day hospital on Rruga Mine Peza, about 10 minutes on foot from Skanderbeg Square. Six treatment rooms, a surgical theatre, 3D X-ray and our own lab are all under one roof.
Open Mon–Fri 9:00–19:00, Sat 9:00–14:00, closed Sunday · +355 67 566 9542 · +355 4 223 0703 · Map
After surgery: ask us which stops and foods suit your recovery. We'll tell you what is fine now and what should wait a few days.
How the week works: Days 1–5 are in the city, mostly on foot. Days 6 and 7 are short trips out of town — a good fit for Sunday, when the clinic is closed. Your visit with us fits into any city day, morning or afternoon.
Day 1 – The heart of Tirana
Skanderbeg Square
30 min · 10 min walk from the clinic · Map
The big open square at the centre of the city, with the statue of Albania's national hero. Museums and the Opera stand around it.
Et'hem Bej Mosque
Sheshi Skënderbej 1 · 20 min · 12 min walk from the clinic · Map
A small mosque from around 1800, known for its painted walls of trees and waterfalls. One of the few old places of worship that survived the communist years. Visit outside prayer times, dressed modestly.
Bunk'Art 2
Rruga Abdi Toptani · 1–1.5 hours · 13 min walk from the clinic · Map
A Cold War bunker under the centre, now a museum about the secret police. Some rooms are not suited to children.

Day 2 – Secret police and old walls
House of Leaves
Rruga Dëshmorët e 4 Shkurtit · 1–2 hours · 11 min walk from the clinic · Map
Built in the 1930s as Albania's first maternity hospital, it later became the secret police headquarters and opened as a museum in 2017. It shows how people were watched and listened to.
Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection
Rruga Ibrahim Rugova 1 · 20 min · 11 min walk from the clinic · Map
Right across from the House of Leaves. Finished in 2012, with golden mosaics inside. It usually closes for a break in the early afternoon.
Tirana Castle
Rruga Murat Toptani · 1–2 hours · 16 min walk from the clinic · Map
Old stone walls now lined with restaurants, cafés and craft shops. Don't expect a castle — come for lunch and a slow coffee.

Day 3 – The Pyramid and Blloku
Best from late afternoon.
Pyramid of Tirana
Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit 5 · 45 min · 19 min walk from the clinic · Map
Opened in 1988 and renewed in 2023, it is now a centre for young people and technology. Climb the outside steps for a free view over the city — many steps, little shade.
Blloku
evening · about 20 min on foot or a short taxi ride from the clinic · Map
Under communism only party leaders could live or walk here. Now it is full of cafés, restaurants and bars. Dictator Enver Hoxha's former villa is here; since 2025 it has been an artists' residence, not a museum, so you see it from outside.

Day 4 – Bunker and mountain (not on a Tuesday)
Take a taxi or the city bus to the eastern edge of town, about 20–30 minutes.
Bunk'Art 1
Rruga Fadil Deliu · 1.5–2 hours · 20–30 min by taxi from the clinic · Map
A huge five-floor bunker with over 100 rooms, built for the country's leaders. It is cool inside, around 16°C, so bring a light jacket.
Dajti Ekspres cable car
next to Bunk'Art 1 · half a day · 20–30 min by taxi from the clinic · Map
A 15-minute ride up Mount Dajti, with restaurants, viewpoints and short walks at the top. On a clear day you can see all the way to the sea. Closed on Tuesdays; tickets are sold only at the lower station; it runs only in good weather.

Day 5 – Market and lake
Pazari i Ri (New Bazaar)
1 hour · 17 min walk from the clinic · Map
A covered market with fruit, cheese, honey, mountain tea and raki. Small grill and fish restaurants all around — good for lunch.
Grand Park and Lake
south of the centre · 1–2 hours · a short taxi ride from the clinic · Map
Shaded paths around a lake, with cafés by the water. Locals come here for the sunset.

Day 6 – Krujë
Krujë Castle and Skanderbeg Museum
about 40 min north · half day · Map
Wide views and an old craft bazaar. Minibuses back to Tirana stop early in the afternoon, so a taxi or a small tour is easier.
Day 7 – Durrës
Roman Amphitheatre and seafront
35–50 min west by bus · half day or more · Map
Buses leave from the regional terminal, not the city centre. See the amphitheatre in the old town, then walk the seafront or rest on the beach.
One more day? Berat
Berat Castle
about 2–2.5 hours away · full day · Map
A UNESCO town known as the “city of a thousand windows.” People still live inside its castle walls. No clinic visit that day.
Close to the clinic: shopping and a short visit
Good for a free hour before or after your appointment.
Mosaic of Tirana
weekdays only · 30 min · 10 min walk from the clinic · Map
The remains of a Roman country villa that later became an early Christian church, found by chance in 1972 while flats were being built. Newly restored, with a 3D model of the villa and digital displays. Check that it is open before you go.
Tirana Ring Center
open daily · 1–2 hours · 10 min walk from the clinic · Map
A modern mall on four floors, with shops, cafés, a food court and a supermarket.
Toptani Shopping Center
open daily · 1–2 hours · 16 min walk from the clinic · Map
A central mall right next to Tirana Castle, with international brands, cafés and places to eat. Easy to combine with Day 2.
